There are two types of spatial information:

  1. simple entries which correspond to a named entity (Paris, Vienna, ...)
  2. complex entries which are derived from simple ones (south of Paris, ...)

The same schema is applicable to temporal information (e.g. January 2011 versus after January 2011).

Standard evaluation metrics for IRS (IR Systems):

  • Average Precision (AP) for each topic
  • Mean Average Precision (MAP) for all topics
